I don’t always upgrade my WordPress installation to the most current version right away. If it is working well why should I mess with it? Usually I upgrade if there is a major security flaw found. Otherwise I leave it be. The main reason is that I use a lot of plugins and sometimes when upgrading to a newer version, you will have trouble with some of the plugins which can be a major headache. I have found a few plugins take awhile before a new version that is compatible comes out. This sometimes can be disaster. So, I will install the most recent version of WordPress on a new site and I keep my old sites as is.
