Intro
I know this from my other websites, and I just want to say it again and again, so what better way to just let it out than a guide? I know it sounds like every other piece of advice web promoters have given you, but most people dont listen. So I′m here to try and hammer it into your head a little bit further.

What is SEO?
SEO is short for “Search Engine Optimization”. These days, almost everyone uses search engines to get to a site, even a site who’s URL they know (I do it all the time). What does this mean? It means that you should get your ass moving and start optimizing your website pages to be friendlier to Google.
How Do I “SEO” my site?
Well there are a lot of factors when it comes to search engine optimization. Heres a checklist to make sure your page is optimized:
* Your HTML is validated (Heres where you can validate your HTML) Validator
* Your Meta tags have the right stuff in them (use a motto or marketing sentence with the same keywords you use in your title tag, make sure you dont “stuff″ with keywords that will hurt you more than help)
* Your Title tag has a good short description (for ex. “Colgate- extra strong whitening toothpaste”, Title tags should have your keywords in it, but make sure it makes sense)
* Make sure you have a good keyword density (should be about 4 or 5 keywords per 3 to 4 sentence paragraph)
* Make sure your keywords are the best and most related to your website (Although it might seem like a good idea to put in all kinds of keywords to “maximize” traffic, it isnt, it will also hurt more than help you) – Use Overture’s keyword finder to find the best related keywords and search phrases – Overture Keyword Suggestor
By the way, little things like naming the pages that your articles/products are on the name of the product (for example this page is named “SEOpaysoff.htm”) help. Also make sure that most of your link text in paragraphs include keywords (for example, lets say you have a traffic selling website, name the link to your order page “Buy Traffic” not “Order”, and make sure if you link to external sites that the sites are relevant).
Thats basically it, dont be lazy do those things mentioned above. You wont get traffic or good rankings just for sitting on your couch all day.
